welcome to massagefx.ca"MASSAGE... a manipulation or handling of the soft tissues by movable pressure in the form of stroking, rubbing, pinching, kneading or beating performed with a therapeutic aim. This is generally applied by hand, but can, of course, be given by means of instruments and apparatus of different kinds." - Dr. Emil Kleen, 1888 Since massage was originally recognized as a beneficial form of healing years ago, practitioners have been finding ways to improve the quality of teaching and application of this therapeutic art. Generally, massage provides a healing advantage of touch. The act of touching and being touched are at the care of our embodied-being with each other. There is enough scientific evidence available to support that our health and well-being is intensely rooted in safe, uncontaminated, authentic touch. In massage therapy, touch opens the body to accept a healing experience. It provides opportunities for clients to become more responsive and responsible participants in their own healing (both in the session and with guidance by your therapist on your own). Therapists work at improving the wellness of the 'whole person', in addition to aiding in recovery of any physical body related conditions and injuries. Through touch, therapists are encouraging the body's self-healing capabilities. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . why should i get a massage ?We put our bodies and minds through a number of stresses and tasks all day long. We seem to be able to find the time for these things, but do we bother to make the time to replenish our bodies and mind? Make the choice and take the opportunity for you time! |
